Lazy eye doll head

Another one of my ebay purchases. This one has amazing cracks on the face.

Bisque Head doll and reflection

Xrays of my teeth

These Xrays are hanging in the window of my studio. The light coming through the window last night was particularly nice. It reminds me that I need to make a dentist appointment.

Its all about Mary

I just keep on photographing her. I wonder how many different versions I can come up with before it becomes redundant?

Bisque Doll Head on Windowsill

This is my Armand Marseille doll head that I got from ebay a couple of weeks ago. Its in great condition but is small. I used my hasselblad with close-up filters and very (3+ years) expired polaroid 669 film (hence the streaks and color shift).

Mary's Shadow

This image of the Virgin was taken at my studio just before the light completely changed. There is a short window of opportunity to get this natural light this time of year. (Polaroid back on my hassleblad).

Doll Head

This is one of the doll heads that I got from ebay about a week ago. There were 4 total. 2 of which I will probably photograph.

Marilyn's Doll

I've had these dolls for way too long. I borrowed them from Lisa to photograph and I can't even remember for sure when. I am finally giving them back to her tomorrow. I've attempted several times to make photos of the dolls for Marilyn. Today I made pictures with my hasselblad. I'll pick up the b/w film on Weds.

Virgin Mary in window light

Here is another version of the statue that I bought a couple of weeks ago in Mill Valley. She is very photogenic. I've been photographing her alot!

Spider from Farm Table

I bought a cool old farm table for my studio today at the Alemany flea market (photo to come). When I dragged it into my studio this spider (pregnant?) dropped onto the floor.

The Adventurer

I've started to photograph my vintage camera collection. Here is the adventurer!

1885

This is envelope accompanied a letter written in 1885. I bought this at the Alemany flea market today for $1.

Journal, NYC, May 2006

I came across this image last night when I was looking through some digital images that I haven't done anything with yet. This is from my trip to NY & Boston last May/June. I kept a self-portrait photo journal every day. I was using my Polaroid 680 camera with 600 film. Unfortunately, that camera no longer works:(

Peacock, Mexico City

This is a peacock who was showing off for the visitors at the Dolores Olmeda house and gardens in Mexico City. Olmeda was a major art collector. She has an amazing pre-columbian collection as well as work by Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo, just to name a few.

Old Books, Oaxaca

These were some really old books in the historical museum in Oaxaca. They had a few rooms devoted to books but they were behind cages.

Graffiti, Oaxaca

This was graffiti in Oaxaca, in January 2006.

Jesus in Plastic

This is in the annex that is to the left of the main part of the Parroquia in San Miguel. They were doing some major renovation so all of the statues were covered in plastic. It was kind of creepy in a really interesting way.

Door Knocker

This is one of the amazing door knockers that you can find attached to the beautiful wooden doors in the colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It was my 3rd time visiting the town, first time by myself. Photographically, I was attracted to many of the same things.

Mary Moving

Jumping and photographing go well together, dontcha think?

Virgin Woodblock

I found this as an image on an ugly t-shirt they were selling on ebay. It is a shame because it is a great image of the Virgin.

I already have it on the bag that I bought from Urban Indigo last month, pictured on the right.

Armand Marsaille smashed

This is what happend about 1/2 hour after I brought the doll to my studio. Sadness. Total sadness! At the time I didn't even really appreciate what I had, I just knew I was excited about photographing it.

Julie Arkel

This is and image of Julie Arkel's studio and the cover of her book. I really like her work. I was reminded of her work again when I was at Summer House on Saturday in Mill Valley. I'd like to get a copy of her book but can't find it anywhere around here or on the web. I've got a lead in at Loop (a store in London) http://www.loop.gb.com/index.html
but they haven't emailed me back.

Another image of the Virgin

This was taken at my studio today with natural window light around 4pm. I used my sx70 camera with a nd filter and 600 (unexpired!) polaroid film. I brought the image home and scanned it and cropped off the white polaroid borders. I love the shallow depth of field and limited focus that the sx70 is able to attain.

My Mary

I bought her at Summer House in Mill Valley today. I love that store. They often have a few (expensive) Santos. I went there looking to see if they had any wooden hands/arms and they did, I almost bought one for $120 and then I thought wait, this is a lot of money for something that I just want to photograph. I bought a couple of marbles and some saint b/w tiny photographs from Mexico and she was behind the counter. I almost didn't ask how much they were asking for her because everything else was sooooo expensive (the head of a santos figure, just the head, was $875 but they said they have lay away!). I snatched her up before I had time to change my mind. She is beautiful.
